Why some people do not register with an NID

Registering with a birth registration number
A birth registration number is the unique number on a person's birth registration certificate. When younger age groups became eligible, the BRN was a common way to register students and children. In general terms, the process has involved:
- Choosing the registration option and the relevant category, such as students, if it is open.
- Entering the BRN and the child's date of birth exactly as recorded.

"Record not found" or similar messages
This usually means the document number and date of birth did not match a record. Recheck both. For a newly issued birth registration or passport, it is possible the record is not yet available to the system, so trying again later may help.
Using someone else's phone number
It is fine for a family member's number to be used, but make sure that person will pass on messages. Never let a shop or agent use their own number for your registration, and never share an OTP with anyone.
Paid helpers and fake sites
Registration through the official portal does not require paying an agent. Be wary of people who ask for your NID, BRN or passport number and an OTP, and of websites that imitate the official portal. Fake certificates offered for sale will not pass QR verification.
