Cookie Policy
Last updated:
This cookie policy explains what cookies are, how Surokkha Guide uses them (in short, it does not), and how you can control cookies in your browser. It should be read together with our privacy policy.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website can store in your browser. They are used for many purposes: keeping you logged in, remembering your language or settings, measuring how many people visit a page, and, on many websites, tracking your activity for advertising. Some cookies are set by the website you are visiting ("first-party cookies"); others are set by different companies whose content appears on the page ("third-party cookies").
Similar technologies include local storage, pixels and device fingerprinting. When we talk about cookies on this page, we include these similar technologies too.
We set no cookies of our own
Surokkha Guide is a simple, static information website. It has no user accounts, no forms, no comment system, no shopping basket and no newsletter sign-up, so there is nothing that needs a cookie to work. We do not set any first-party cookies.
We also do not currently use:
- Analytics tools that measure visitors, such as page-view counters or behaviour tracking.
- Advertising cookies or advertising networks, as confirmed in our advertising disclosure.
- Social media "like" or "share" buttons that load tracking scripts.
- Embedded videos, maps or chat widgets from third parties.
Because of this, you will not see a cookie consent banner on our website. There is nothing for you to accept or reject.
Third-party requests: Google Fonts
Our pages load web fonts from Google Fonts, using fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com. When your browser downloads these font files, it makes a request to Google's servers. Google does not normally set cookies for these font requests, but Google does receive your IP address and basic browser information, because that is how any file is delivered over the internet. Google's privacy policy governs how it handles that information.
If you prefer not to connect to Google at all, you can use a browser extension that blocks web fonts. Our pages will still work and will fall back to fonts already installed on your device.
External websites have their own cookies
Our guides link to other websites, including the official Surokkha portal at surokkha.gov.bd, the Directorate General of Health Services at dghs.gov.bd, the World Health Organization and UNICEF Bangladesh. When you click through to these websites, you leave Surokkha Guide. Those websites may set their own cookies and have their own cookie and privacy policies, which we do not control. Please check their policies if you have questions about how they use cookies.
Surokkha Guide is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the Government of Bangladesh, DGHS, a2i or the official Surokkha platform, so we have no role in how the official portal handles cookies or data.
How to control cookies in your browser
Even though we do not set cookies, you may want to manage cookies for other websites. All modern browsers let you do this:
- View and delete cookies: look in your browser's settings under "Privacy", "Security" or "Site data".
- Block third-party cookies: most browsers let you block cookies from companies other than the site you are visiting. Some browsers do this by default.
- Block all cookies: you can block all cookies, but many websites, including some official portals, may not work properly if you do.
- Private or incognito mode: this deletes cookies when you close the window, which can be useful on shared or public computers.
- Mobile devices: on phones and tablets, cookie settings are usually found in the browser app's settings under "Privacy".
If you use a shared computer, for example at a cyber cafe or office, it is a good idea to log out of any website and clear cookies and browsing history when you finish, especially after using any site where you entered personal details.
Future changes and consent
If we ever decide to introduce analytics, advertising or any other feature that uses cookies or similar technologies, we will update this policy and our privacy policy before those cookies are used. Where the law requires it, we will ask for your consent first and give you a clear way to say no. Non-essential cookies would not be set until you agree.
